The GLJHS Boys Soccer team set the tone early against the Connellsville Falcons dominating the time of possession, limiting scoring opportunities while generating plenty of their own. However, strong goalkeeper play from the Falcons kept the ‘Cats off the board the first 28 minutes of the half. Reece DiCasolo was able to get behind the Falcon defense and played a ball to the middle of the goal where John Massaro was able to push the ball into the corner of the net to record the first half’s only goal.
The second half of the contest saw more of the same, dominant Wildcat possession and pressure, but this time the ‘Cats were able to find the back of the net early and often to put the game out of reach well before the final whistle sounded. Ian DeCerb scored the second and third Wildcat goals of the day when he first put home a rebound off a Cam Mikulsky shot and then hit a well placed shot from about 18 yards out. Mikulsky added one of his own when he attacked from the right side and hammered home a rebound off of his own initial shot. Massaro would notch his 2nd of the game, scoring an unassisted goal to extend the lead to 5. Center Back Brady Kring rounded out the scoring when he stepped up into space from his defense position and beat the Falcon keeper on a long shot off a nice assist from Roman Agostoni.
Strong defensive play from Charlie Mohler, Jake Limani, Brock Polinsky, and Kring kept the Falcons without an official shot on goal. Mitch Horner and Reece DiCasolo split time in goal.
Goals: Massaro (2), DeCerb (2), Mikulsky (1), Kring (1)
