The Greater Latrobe girls’ volleyball got back into section play last evening traveling to Connellsville to take on the Falcons. The Wildcats swept the match 3 sets to 0 by the scores of 25 – 17, 25- 16 and 25 – 15 were a large percentage of the varsity players saw action. With the victory the Cat’s run their section record to 3 – 1 and their overall record to 4 – 1.
Senior Emma Fenton set the offensive bar for Latrobe scoring 12 kills, followed by middle hitter Anna Rafferty with 5 kills. Lilly Fenton, Maya Krehlik , Emma Blair and Madison Gresh posted the balance of Wildcat scoring with kill totals of 3.2,2 and 1 respectively.
Setter Lily Fenton dished out 14 assists while Emma Fenton distributed 9 additional assists to Wildcat hitters. The defense was paced by Sophomore Maya Krehlik with 6 digs, Bailey Watson and Lily Fenton added 5 digs each and 13 additional digs were accounted for from Anna Rafferty, Emma Fenton, Shallyn Shank and Alanna Thiel, 4,3,3and 3 respectively.
The Latrobe JV also swept their match by the scores of 25- 10 and 25 – 20. Paige Watson led the JV squad in kills for the second straight match with 4, followed by Madison Gresh with 3 and Ryley Quinn and Elle Snyder each with one kill. Additional scoring was provided by Hanna Costello, Elle Snyder, Paige Watson and Ava Krehlik with service aces 3, 2, 1 and 1.
Ava Krehlik recorded 6 assists while performing her setting duties, and defensively it was Giovanna Jones and Gabby Sukay stopping 6 Connellsville scoring attempts with 3 digs each.
The Wildcat’s return home next week for another section match against the Norwin Knights.
