Wildcats News · WPIAL & VNN Sports High School Senior Student Athlete Spotlight Series

Hundreds of thousands of High School student athletes have had their careers cut short due to the current shutdown of our Schools.   VNN Sports and the WPIAL Athletic Directors wanted to give some of these Students added recognition as they get ready to move on to the next phase of their lives.  Our senior Student Athlete spotlight series continues with Laura Esmond from Beth Center:

Name: Laura Esmond
Future plans: To work in the Laborers Local #1058 for a year to save money then attend either Pennsylvania State University or California State University and major in Physical Therapy or Nursing.
Sports: Varsity Track -2 years Varsity Softball -2 years
Clubs: The Future is Mine (TFIM )and Relay for Life
Most memorable moment: Last year at the Cal game when Deanna touched home plate and then came into the dugout and said to me “Since I touched home plate did I just score us a run?” and also Molly’s mom Lynne for bringing us snacks to every home and away game last year.
Favorite teachers: Mrs. Stanek and Mr. Pryor
What I will miss the most about high school: Actually attending the spring semester senior year #covid19, seeing my friends and teachers everyday, football season and participating in Sports Night. I will also miss our authentic school spirit. Once a Bulldog Always a Bulldog.

If you are a local WPIAL School Athletic Director or coach and you have Spring sport seniors that you would like to see spotlighted here please email vnncares@vnnsports.net.  Include up to TWO images per athlete along with information about the Seniors that you would like to see highlighted.  There is no deadline for this program and we will be running multiple spotlights daily.  Due to the current nature of our situation, this will be an ongoing feature with no current timeline for an end date.
